Career Development participants stopped by to pick up new kids coats and watch “Rio 2” with us! Boys and girls coats were donated by the Kids Clothes Club and distributed to qualifying Career Collaborative participants. It was great to see old friends and catch up!

Placements

Kevin (pictured at right) felt ready for his interviews at Boston Medical Center after completing the August workshop and 20 practice interviews! He told the classroom the job-search process isn’t easy, but he was determined to achieve full-time employment. “Put in 100%,” he said. All of Kevin’s hard work finally paid off. He is now an Environmental Services Worker at BMC and started his new job last week.

Ouafa got a job as a Bank Teller at People’s United Bank.

Elsie (pictured at right) on starting her new job at Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership as a Program Representative. She provided words of encouragement to those who are still searching by quoting the Brazilian novelist, Paulo Coelho, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Her piece of advice: be patient, set goals, and you will accomplish them.

Retention

Betty (pictured at right) stopped by to pick up her certificate for graduating from the two-year program at Career Collaborative. Betty has been working as a Retail Picture Framer at Big Picture Framing.

Gregoria has been employed for more than two years at The Dimock Center as an Assistant Teacher. She was happy to share the good news and that she has received a generous raise! Gregoria was excited to receive her certificate for completing the program at Career Collaborative.

Career Collaborative honored Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as an outstanding employer with its Chairman’s Award. BIDMC has hired 15 of Career Collaborative’s clients, and the medical center provides employees with excellent opportunities for growth. Dr. Kevin Tabb (right), President and CEO of BIDMC, accepted the award from Jerry Jacobs (left), Chairman of Career Collaborative’s Board of Directors.

Placements

Ena got her target job. She has been hired to work as a full-time Environmental Services Worker at Faulkner Hospital.

Diane (pictured at right) got a job on her last day of the job-search course. She was ecstatic because the interview went so well that the employer offered her the job. Diane told the packed classroom that she has accepted a full-time position as a Desktop Support Technician at Tech Networks of Boston.

Marie was happy to announce that she got a job an Inspection Coordinator for Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership. She said it took some long days of applications but she was determined to get a job.

When Isa came in to ring the bell, she said “I was terrible at interviews before I came here.” After 20 practice interviews at Career Collaborative, Isa was confident and able to win over the four interviewers from Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership. Isa told the class, “Don’t give up and don’t settle for less. You’re valuable.” Isa starts her new position next week at as an Inspection Coordinator.

Bouchra (pictured at right) started her new position as a Catering Associate at Spaulding Hospital Cambridge two weeks ago and is loving it. Her new position allows her to interact with patients and assist them in their meal planning. “I like the customer service. I make sure patients are happy and well taken care of,” she said.

Retention Graduates


Carla came in to pick up her certificate for completing Career Collaborative’s program. Carla has worked at Amtrak for three years.

Farah (Pictured at left here with Lauren Tracey at right) had lots to smile about when she stopped by to meet with Lauren T., her Career Coach, and pick up her graduation certificate. She has been employed for three years as a Patient Care Associate at Mass General Hospital!
